Yesterday, it was finally proclaimed that Noynoy Aquino is now the new president of the Republic of the Philippines. I was glad with the results. His family and friends were all there to witness and share that very moment with him. I have also seen some showbiz friends of Noynoy like Ogie Alcasid, Dindong Dantes, Ceasar Montano and Boy Abunda. We have heard rumors about this people taking part to  be a part of his cabinet. Boy Abunda as the Secretary of Tourism and also A position for Mr. Dindong Dantes.

I am not very much amzed about this matter. I mean there are a lot of deserving people for this said position. I hope Mr. President is really having the right choices. I think I would just have to wish him all the luck.

Who Are Your Bets?

2010 election here in the Philippines is as hot as our weather. The candidates for their respective positions are now getting ready and really busy for the upcoming election this month of May. Tarpaulins, posters, banners, billboards, television and radio advertisements are all over the country. These people are really that eager to win. Who doesn’t want power and authority anyways? All of us do, I mean if given a chance of course.

Every candidate has their own goal for this country especially for those candidates whom are running for the highest position in the country, the candidates for presidency. We have the famous ones like Noynoy Aquino the son of the late Ninoy and Cory Aquino who was once a president of the Philippines; we also have Manuel Villar who happens to be the 9th richest man here in the Philippines; Joseph Estrada who is once impeached by the people of the country; Gilbert Teodoro the ex-Secretary of Defense in the Philippines; there’s Richard Gordon of Red Cross of the Philippines; Nicanor Perlas who is an environmentalist; JC delos Reyes who is a councilor of Olongapo City and the only woman running for president, Senator Jamby Madrigal.

These people will do anything just to win the position, and then? After that, what’s next? For other people, voting is useless since we can’t avoid cheaters when it comes to elections especially here in the Philippines. They feel that their votes are useless since we have dirty elections here. But as for me, I love to exercise my right to vote. In this way, I can show that as a concern citizen of this country I did my part to put the right person for me in that position.

In choosing the right candidates, we should consider a lot of things like their objectives and goals for the betterment of our country. Let’s not put those people who are only after the power and money that politics is surely to offer. Let us exercise our right to vote and vote wisely.
